Forest health. Or why get rid of stumps and dead wood?

Dead trees and stumps do not remain empty for long. They quickly fill with insects, microorganisms and fungi, whose presence often leads to problems. Ants make their homes there, making conventional means of control less effective. Stumps become a refuge for bark beetles and other pests, which can easily move to neighboring trees. Even mice can make their nests under the stump and breed.

This time we grinded up the old stump shallowly. Simply to improve the appearance of this lawn and make it easier to maintain. The stump was not empty, it turned out to be inhabited. And such a neighborhood is not to everyone’s taste. Well, now they’ll have to go and look for another stump. I wonder who’ll come first, us or them?
